The aim of the course is to provide adequate training for the purposes of Health and Safety for persons involved in management and supervision within their workplace, the course includes "hands-on" practical assessments, continual assessment as to progress and the submission of a project based on the delegates workplace the delegates on successful completion will receive a nationally recognised and respected certified award.
Introducing Managing Safely Some managers see health and safety as an add on to their role even an intrusion, this module makes it clear that managers and supervisors are accountable for their teams and make persuasive case for managing safely
Assessing Risk Define and demystify the term risk and risk assessment. Risk assessments and a simple scoring system are introduced and delegates carry out a series of risk assessments
Controlling Risk The delegates are taught to tackle risks and reduce the overall risk concentrating on the best techniques to mitigate and control key risk activities and how to choose the right method.
Identifying Hazards All the main activities within the workplace are covered, entrance exits, workplace traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, stress, noise, housekeeping and the workplace environment, slips, trips and falls, work at height, display screen equipment and manual handling
Investigating Incident and Accidents This elements allows the delegate to understand why accidents and incidents need to be reported and investigated, assist in identify why things go wrong and how to carry out an investigation when they do.
Measuring Performance This element explains how checking performance can help improve health and safety. Delegates learn how to develop basic performance indicators, and get to grips with auditing and proactive and reactive measuring
Protecting our Environment A short but effective introduction to waste and pollution and leads into how organisations and individual managers and supervisors can get involved in cutting down environmental impacts
The delegate should work as a manager or supervisor, direct a team in the workplace or is looking to enhance their skill set for future advancement within the workplace. The candidate must also be fluent in English.
The training is carried out in accordance with IOSH Accredited Standards and includes both theory and project based assessments leading to each trainee being issued a certificate for a nationally recognised and respected award.
