  • Who Should Attend This Course: The course is for those that work at height and use harness and lanyards, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 require that those people are suitably trained in the safe use of and have knowledge of inspection, the correct fitting and wearing of harnesses and lanyards and use whilst working at height.
  • This training applies to everyone within the workplace who puts people to work or works at height and would also benefit managers and supervisors in order that they understand their duties and responsibilities.
  • Instructor Ratio: 12 x trainees (maximum) per Instructor
  • Course Duration: 1/2 day Training Course (4 hours )
  • Location: Training can be delivered on-site and off-site depending on your requirements; training delivered on-site will be more advantageous to the trainees as the training can be specific to their workplace activities.

Aims of the course

The aim of the course is to provide adequate training for the purposes of Health and Safety for persons involved in working at height in their workplace, the course includes a competency assessment which is fully supervised by the instructor.

  • Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
  • Work at Height Regulations 2005
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998

Course Content

  • Trainees will have an understanding of course aims and objectives
  • Have a clear understanding of their responsibilities under Health and Safety Law and other relevant legislation i.e. Work at Height Regulations 2005
  • Have a clear understanding of the term Work at Height
  • Identify the specified risk associated with working at height activities
  • Work at Height accident statistics/ ratios
  • Understand the principles for controlling and preventing falls when working at height and apply them within their workplace
  • Organise and implement control measures to either eliminate or reduce risks
  • Organise and implement appropriate accident and emergency arrangements and procedures
  • Identify the range of harness and lanyards and their use and applications
  • Safe storage and inspection of equipment
  • Correct use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Theory and Practical assessments

Prerequisites for this course

Operatives should be medically fit including good eyesight and hearing.

Achievement Measurement for this course

The training is carried out in accordance with Accredited Standards s includes both theory and practical assessments leading to each trainee being issued a certificate of attendance.
